Q&A with Raymond of Fear Factory

1. How did you get involved with the Frequency project?
I was approached by Brian Fukuji At Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) who told me about the game, Frequency and how he thought we could contribute to the game. At the time, SCEA suggested the song "Linch Pin" from our Digimortal album, but later, it was decided that a separate song for the game would be ideal.

2. Did you have particular ideas writing the game's title track?
In writing the songs for a game, I see what type of game it is and go from there. I have been playing games for over 15 years so I have a pretty good idea of what a game needs.

3. How do you feel to be part of a diverse musical lineup for the game?
It's very cool! Being part of the diverse lineup allows fans of other styles of music to get the chance to see what Fear Factory has to offer them.

4. Who is the most into video games in the band?
That would be me, Raymond, for sure.

5. What are your favorite games on the road and around the studio?
TEKKEN 3, GRAND THEFT AUTO 3, GRAN TURISMO 3 and TIME CRISIS 2.

6. Do you sometimes play video games to settle issues among band members?
HA HA! That is a good idea, but I guess it wouldn't be fair since I would probably win all the time.

7. What upcoming games are you looking forward to the most?
Since I was out of the country when a few games came out, I and most looking forward to playing Final Fantasy 10, Metal Gear Solid, Soul Reaver 2 and NFL 2K2.

8. Do you have any future video game collaborations planned?
We will be working on the Terminator game. For my own production company, Herrera Productions, I am currently working with my bass player, Christian and keyboard player, John, on a few titles.

9. Have you ever gone "hard-core" regarding video games, such as play one over an extended length of time?
Oh, hell yeah!!! The first game I played for a long time was the Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo System.

10. Do you think your fans will pick up on Frequency, how do you think they'll react?
Since we are not strangers to having our songs on video games, I think our fans will enjoy it, for sure!
