Welcome to WWB's GameWeek, brought to you by Mac Frontier and Pro-Mark Stix. Our guest today is Raymond Herrera, Fear Factory and Gamershaven.com. Raymond Herrera started playing video games at the age of 7 with an Atari 2600. When not drumming for Fear Factory, creating kewl gamerztunes with Studio 989, or running Gamers Haven, Raymond Herrera continues to play video games keeping extremely involved in the videogame industry from the inside out. Raymond and Fear Factory have appeared in several Sony PlayStation games including Test Drive 5. Test Drive 6, and Big Air. Some of you may have already driven the "Fear Factory Van" in Test Drive 5. We welcome Raymond Herrera! Raymond Herrera: Hello GCSSpecialK: To start with, tell us how you and your band appeared in a Sony Playstation game? Raymond Herrera: 1st game we ever got on was Messiah which will be coming out very soon. I knew the game designer on Messiah and the others I met at E3 FearFactory Ownz: hows the album coming along? Raymond Herrera: 8 songs done so far hoping to go in the studio in about a month. Hopefully a record will be out by the end of Summer 2000 Decepticon7: I am just really curious, is any of the band members into... I mean are any of you guys into anime? Raymond Herrera: We are not really into it but some of the stuff is cool Dead Days: Quick question, Raymond, can we expect Fear Factory at OzzFest2000? Raymond Herrera: Ozzfest 2000 doesn't look good but you can be sure to see us other doing other things. Decepticon7: What are your favorite FF tracks? Raymond Herrera: My favorite songs are Zero Signal, Securitron, Edge Crusher Decepticon7: what bands would you like to tour with most of all and what were your favorite tours that you were on ? Raymond Herrera: We'd like to tour with Metallica and Pantera,Ozzfest 97, Big Day Out in Australia FearFactory Ownz: How Many songs can we expect on the new album? Is it true that you use a quad-bass drum1?!? Raymond Herrera: You can expect about 11 songs on the new album. What is quad-bass drum, do you mean four bass drum? FearFactory Ownz: Cool. Yea...like the ones where its not double but two per foot Raymond Herrera: 2 kick drums 1 pedal on each kick drum that is all nothing fancy just the real thing ZeroSignaL: what do you have to say about the rumors that the new record "sounds more like Demanufacture"? Are you secretly a robot? (no one should be able to play that fast) Raymond Herrera: The new record will sound a lot in like Demanufacture in terms of sound. You can expect Demanufacture with a lot more low end. As far as the robot comment, its just practice. I like to be fast and precise at the same time.
jEsTer5150: So Speedy Gonzalez, when do youexpect Obsolete to go Platinum? -Brad-
Raymond Herrera: Soon I hope.
Decepticon7: Are you still going with a concept album format or what other info would you like to let us know about the album, also have you guys gone gold yet Just wondering.
Raymond Herrera: We are thinking of continuing the story from Obsolete but it is still up in the air
Dead Days: On Demolition Racer, the tracks recorded on there, were those just riffs for the game only or could we expect those to be new songs off the new album? (do you know where I can find bass tabs of those tracks on the game?)
Raymond Herrera: For Demolition Racer those tracks were written specifically for the game but we will use certain parts for new songs on the next record. We are working on bass tabs and drum tabs for the site.
FearFactory Ownz: Any expected "special guest" vocals on the new album, or any backup guitarist/bassist etc? When can we expect you on tour?
Raymond Herrera: As of right now no special guest
Pav: Raymond, when are you's coming back to australia?
Raymond Herrera: Next record maybe late this year.
BigGod: Speaking of Demolition Racer, the track Will There Never Be An End? sounds
like a fairly complete song (and a pretty good one at that) is that likely to be a future B-side or even make the cut for the album?
Raymond Herrera: We are going to re-write the song and make it like another Descent type track.
demanufactory: Will Burt's brother ever do a guest appearence on aFF record?
Raymond Herrera: Right now, We have not thought that far ahead. Maybe Burt brother will do something with us one day.
DaveR: Raymond whats your favorite gaming rig? Dreamcast, Playstation, Nintendo?...reason?
Raymond Herrera: Okay, Dreamcast until PlayStation 2. Because it has the power of both Nintendo and PlayStation put together and most of all great games.
FearFactory Ownz: Are there any plans to tour with any bands? Possibly (Soulfly, (Hed) p.e., etc.) who also have new albums due out this summer?
Raymond Herrera: We haven't thought that far ahead yet as far as touring goes.
GCSSpecialK: The intro video in Test Drive 5 was really stunning. Was that video made especially for Test Drive 5 or was it one of your videos?
Raymond Herrera: It was one of our actual videos from our song Replica off of Demanufacture, which is one of our albums.
zipperhead: Any cheats to Test Drive so we can hit the FF car easier?
Raymond Herrera: Yeah go to the drag race area Raymond Herrera: win in 1st place and put auxyray as your name and that should unlock some codes. Other codes are go to championship mode enter a name as VRSIX to unlock some more things.
TheExiledOne: Is it true Raymond that you write your emails only in capital letters? What is the reason for this odd behaviour?
Raymond Herrera: I love everything big. I like big fonts.
Dead Days: What was the first video game that a Fear Factory song appeared on (clip/song)? Have you gotten any offers to appear on any more video games?
Raymond Herrera: 1st game was Messiah, but the 1st release with our music... Carmageddon
demanufactory: If I sent a CD of my band to RR records how could I get it to you?
Raymond Herrera: Send it to my attn:
Pav: is it true that Dino had a fight with fieldy from KoRn?
Raymond Herrera: No it wasn't Dino. It started out with Dino & Fieldy and ending with Christian and Fieldy
Pav: Did christian kick his head in?
Raymond Herrera: Yes, you could say that.
Decepticon7: What do you think of bands like Static-x Slipknot and PM5K? Whatever happened to the live album?
Raymond Herrera: Static X I like, Slipknot I like, PM5K is okay. We could not come to an agreement with Roadrunner on a live album
jEsTer5150 2: Where can copies of FF videos be purchased?
Raymond Herrera: Eventually we'll have a home video for now they are on certain video games
FearFactory Ownz: What is the truth behind the rumors of the "SuperBand" involving you, Christian, Deftones guitarist and B-Real? Can you clear up information on this? How long have you been playing? Any advice on how to speed up the double-bassing for a drummer?
Raymond Herrera: It's true about the band. I have been playing for 12 years. Practice patterns instead of straight double bass and create beats on top of them, this will help your speed greatly
FearFactory Ownz: It doesnt mean that FF will be on a back burner for this band right? tranzgenik: Raymond: Are u going to do a remix album of Obsolete oryour new album in the nearest future?
Decepticon7: What are Burt, Chris, Dino, and your's favorite bands?
Raymond Herrera: U2, The Police, Metallica
Pav: are you's ever gonna get around to doing that edge crusher clip?
Raymond Herrera: Maybe one day when Roadrunner wakes up
tranzgenik Are you going to do a remix album of Obsolete or your new album in the nearest future? remanufacture was awesome!!!
Raymond Herrera: We will most likely do a re-mix album for the new album, but not for Obsolete... then again who knows
FaTaL 2: Did you guys ever find any of your stolen equipment?any leads at all?
Raymond Herrera: Nope
Decepticon7: Are you happy with the way Roadrunner is handling the band?
Raymond Herrera: some what
GCSSpecialK: Raymond, What's next on the horizon for you?
Raymond Herrera: Finish the FF record. Complete the Super Band project. Get as many video games as possible and make my video game store Gamers Haven shine.
Mookie: Raymond, how many total albums has FF sold (all combined)?
Raymond Herrera: world wide? 1.5 to 2 million
Kornfed: How did find time to record with Brujeria for the new album, when you were touring with Fear Factory?
Raymond Herrera: We did Brujeria in between Fear Factory tours.
FaTaL 2: heh, do a canadian tour, lots of FF fans up here just waiting : )
Raymond Herrera: We are planning to and would like to do a festival type tour.
GCSSpecialK: Raymond, it was a real pleasure to have you be our guest tonight. We wish you the very best for your online game store and your band, Fear Factory.
