Oct 31, 2001 Nothing will stop them! |
"Nothing will be canceled or postponed. We are aware that some bands have declined their obligations, in the light of the world events. We respect their decisions, and understand their reasoning, however, it has not affected out decision. Please understand that their reasons are fully valid, safety of one's own well being is priority number 1. We feel that the areas we will be visiting will not be affected by the chaos going on around the world and it will be 'business as usual'. There are some feelings of uneasiness and wariness, but that is how we always feel, so nothing has really changed. We are amped and ready to tour with Godflesh and Devin Townsend, and are looking forward to seeing all of you very soon!" |

Jul 19, 2001 A fun day had by all |
It was a 100 degrees in the shade, as Fear Factory ripped through a blazing sound check for Road Crew members and 30 meet and greet winners from Gallery Of Sound in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Our very own Lou (better known as Malibu Lou), Roadrunner's Northeast Retail Regional, supervised the festivities on this scorching summer day. It was just this past June 28th, at Tink's in Scranton, PA. Fear Factory played later that night, and as Lou describes, "they tore the roof off the place." To further that, Lou relays that even the band agreed...it was off the hook. Though we do not have photos from the actual show that night, Lou has been good enough to share some pics taken from the meet & greet during the day...Registration for Fear Factory Summer Camp 2002 coming soon...you'll see what we mean...check out Lou's collage HERE. In the meantime, KNOW that Fear Factory is still headlining their own Evolution Of Revolution Tour with Dry Kill Logic, Puya, and Primer 55. There are still 14 more dates left on the tour, including an appearance tonight (07/18) in Madison, WI. The tour will end with a string of 7 seven dates on Fear Factory's turf - 6 shows in Cali and one in Las Vegas. See Fear Factory's TOUR DATES for full details. After this US run, it looks like the band will be heading to Europe for a couple weeks...more detail to come |

While on their week break the band also recorded a brand new track called FREQUENCY which will appear on the new Playstation 2 game of the same title. The game lets players cut up and remix the FF track to their own liking. Other songs will also feature from assorted bands and DJs. Look for it`s release sometime in November from Sony Entertainment. |
Jun 24, 2001 Fear Factory DVD |
Fear Factory, as said many a time before, is currently hosting their own tour here in the states in support of their latest release, DIGIMORTAL. The tour name, The Evolution Of Revolution.
Well, another Evolution is in the works. Though nothing absolute, there are plans of creating a Fear Factory DVD. The title, Digital Connectivity - The Evolution Of Fear Factory. Initial plans include concert footage from their current tour, a bio on FF as written by FF, and a chronological order of their history as told by each release, along with live/behind the scenes footage/interviews from each release. Of course, all videos done by the band will be included, as well as other special features. Again, just being vague...as it is not 100% on the form this is to take, or a date for this to be released. Fear Factory needs your video footage for the upcoming DVD release. There are no restrictions or guidelines - just submit your footage of the band. If your clip is selected for the DVD, you'll get autographed Fear Factory merchandise or the chance to hang out with the band at a Meet & Greet. Send all video footage to:
Mark Botting You MUST include a return address and contact information to be considered for selection. ALL VIDEOS MUST BE RECEIVED BY JULY 31 |
Jun 22, 2001 New FF songs |
Two new articles to read:
1) Dino and Dr. Love - Dino sat down to answer questions from Dr. Drew online, a feature called 5 Minutes With Dino Cazares Of Fear Factory. Not your usual questions, and definitely not your usual answers. Find out things such as Dino's sign, favorite reading materials, what he would change about himself, the favorite part of his body, childhood idols, a useless act he is good at, and more...the interview can be seen here. 2) Raymond and GameSpyDaily - Raymond just had a talk with GameSpyDaily. They pepper him with such questions as to how he got into games, the first game he got hooked on, and how Fear Factory got involved with the whole scene. They also grill him on the 220 games he had stolen recently on a flight. It's a conspiracy! You can read all about it here |
Jun 19, 2001 New FF songs |
Fear Factory, in the middle of touring the states with Dry Kill Logic, Puya, and Primer 55, recently took some time to hit the studio.
During their studio adventures, they recorded 2 tracks - an alternate version of "Invisible Wounds" from their most recent Digimortal release, and a brand new track for an upcoming Sony PlayStation 2 game. The title of the track is unknown, but the name of the Sony PlayStation game for which it will be on is called Frequency. No release date has been set for the game as of yet, but we can offer that it will have some pretty interesting, exciting, and unique features. more to follow... |
Jun 06, 2001 Faust soundtrack |
The movie Faust - which is due to be released in the states come the end of August - is a classic horror flick in the vein of SPAWN meets DEMON KNIGHTS (you know the flick, with funny guy Dennis Miller and porn goddess Chasey Lain), based upon the underground, yet immensely popular comic book by Tim Vigil. It is a virtual splatterfest filled with disembowelment, decapitations, and enough bare breasts to set your watch to!
The soundtrack for the movie Faust will be released July 24th, here is the listing for the soundtrack:

Apr 30, 2001 FF in magazines |
One thing is for sure - Fear Factory, whose latest offering Digimortal hit the streets last week, has members that can play. To further cement that, check out the upcoming Bass Player and Guitar World mags.
In the May 2001 issue of Bass Player, there is a feature on Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers. Read Christain's story on how he actually became a bassist (ya know, he used to play guitar for metal bands in Europe before becoming Fear Factory's bassist). And then of course, comes the tech talk... In the June 2001 issue of Guitar World, there is a feature on Dino Cazares. Actually, a great piece which gives you the whole Fear Factory story, from beginning to now, and it is presented in such a way that even the most astute Fear Factory student will gain a new perspective of this groundbreaking act. "Let's face it. When it comes to playing live, no one comes even close to us." And yes, Dino backs that up... |

Jan 18, 2001 New Album Info source: RoadRunnerRecords |
I know some of you have been asking what the first single from Fear Factory's DIGIMORTAL is going to be, to which I have answered "Lynch Pin". Well, the song and sound of the title still hold true, but the spelling has been changed to "Linchpin".
The band will start work shooting a video for this song on January 22nd in LA. We'll get the video up here for you ASAP, but don't hold your breath, it will at least a month, most likely longer until we get the final version in house. In the meantime, I can tell you that this is to be a very horizontal video, constant flowing across the screen -"Concept is abstract but allows for wild creativity."
And did you notice??? The new Fear Factory logo can be found on their PHOTO page.
In addition to the standard jewel box release of DIGIMORTAL, there will also be a one-time run, limited edition digi-pak on this effort. The amount of digi's that are going to be pressed has yet to be decided (ahhh, good idea for a contest), but as always there will be bonus tracks (4 to be exact). The artwork will most likely be different too, mainly in regards to the inside packaging...cover will have same theme, but will be varied from the original jewel box version.
Have you listened to their new track "What Will Become" yet? Make sure you check it out in the MUSIC section at Roadrunnerrecords. |

Fear Factory have now set "Digimortal" as the title for their upcoming new album which they plan to release through Roadrunner Records in April. The group are currently in the Burbank area of Los Angeles, CA recording the album and are nearing completion of tracking. Band guitarist Dino recently commented on the shape of the new album and why they've chosen a more low key setting to record, saying: "We've avoided typical studios like Indigo Ranch. We don't want to be working and the all of a sudden have Limp Bizkit walk in- that could be distracting! We've cut out a lot of the fat and got straight to the point, instead of playing six-minute songs. There are a lot of really catchy hooks and it's shaping up to be very melodic, but the aggression and heaviness is still there. Basically, we're taking all the best Fear Factory parts and accentuating them." |

OK HERE ARE THE UPDATES SO FAR.
WE WILL BE RECORDING IN L.A.
WE HAVE NOT PICKED A STUDIO AS OF YET, BUT WE WILL PICK ONE SOON.
AS FAR AS A PRODUCER GOES WE ARE STILL LOOKING INTO PRODUCERS BUT
THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW - BOB ROCK WILL NOT DO THE RECORD HE SAID IT WAS TOO HEAVY FOR HIM.
TOBY WRIGHT WILL NOT DO THE RECORD EITHER HE IS DOING THE NEW OZZY RECORD.
THE ORIGINAL PLAN WAS TO DO IT OURSELVES WITH RHYS FULBER, RHYS WILL STILL BE PART OF THIS
ALBUM NO MATTER WHAT, BUT WE ARE STILL LOOKING AT PRODUCERS.
WE WILL BE GOING INTO THE STUDIO ON SEPTEMBER 5TH. AND WE WILL HAVE UPDATES EVERYDAY
AT WWW.FEARFACTORY.COM ONCE WE GET INTO THE STUDIO
WE HAVE 21 SONGS IN TOTAL WE HAVE 8 FOR THE ALBUM.
WE WANT TO WRITE 2 TO 3 MORE FOR THE ALBUM. THE REST OF THE TRACKS WILL BE B-SIDE TRACKS,
VIDEO GAME TRACKS, MOVIE TRACKS, ETC.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS OF EACH TRACK FOR THE ALBUM.
1. DIGI MORTAL 100 BPM THIS SONG IS VERY MUCH LIKE SHOCK WITH GROOVY VERSUS, A LOT OF TRIPLETS
ON THE KICK DRUMS, AND A VERY MELODIC CHORUS.
2. LYNCH PIN 110 BPM THIS SONG IS ALL ABOUT GROOVE, EXTREMELY CATCHY CHORUS THIS WILL BE
THE SING ALONG SONG FOR SURE. THINK OF THIS AS REPLICA MEETS MARTYR
3. STRAIN VS RESISTANCE 82 BPM THIS IS A VERY DIFFERENT SONG FOR US, IT HAS A RAGE AGAINST
THE MACHINE GROOVE TO IT, WITH A STRIGHT CHORUS MELODIC AGAIN, WITH A U2 MEETS MINISTRY FEEL TO IT.
4. BYTE BLOCK 79 BPM THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST INDUSTIAL SONG WE GOT IT STARTS OUT WITH THIS
KILLER GUITAR PATTERN INTO A KICK DRUM PATTERN, STARTS KIND OF LIKE ZERO SIGNAL BUT IT IS AN
ALTERNATING KICK DRUM PATTERN, THEN BREAKS INTO PARTS OF THAT PATTERN FOR THE VERSUS
INTO A STRAIGHT HEAVY CHORUS LIKE NEW BREED.
5. FREEDOM OR FIRE TYPE SONG (NO NAME YET) 130 BPM THIS SONG IS SICK, THINK OF
FREEDOM OR FIRE ON SPEED, THIS SONG ONCE AGAIN HAS A MELODIC BURT STYLE CHORUS WITH
STATIC X TYPE VERSUS, VERY FAST STOPS AND CONTINUES, FEAR FACTORY TRADE MARK STUFF ON THIS ONE
6. ACRES OF SKIN BPM 122 OK PLAIN AND SIMPLE IF YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST SONG ON THE PANTERA RECORD
FAR BEYOND DRIVEN, THEN THAT IS WHAT THIS SONG IS LIKE.
7. INVISIBLE WOUNDS 76 BPM THIS SONG IS A LOT LIKE DESCENT BUT EVEN CATCHIER, WILL ALSO BE A BIG
SING ALONG SONG FOR SURE. BUT THEN THE MIDDLE TURNS INTO THIS EXTREMELY HEAVY FEAR FACTORY
MECHNICAL TYPE MIDDLE SECTION, VERY EPIC SONG LIKE RESURRECTION.
8. HURT CONVEYOR 63 BPM THIS SONG IS A ROCK SONG ALL THE WAY, THE CHORUS HAS A DEFTONES TOUCH TO IT.
(07/13/00)
21 songs have been written, but only about 9 or 10 are to be used on the new album.
The rest will be used for B-sides and video game soundtracks etc.
(06/30/00)
The band are just finishing up recording a 5 song demo
(Digimortal, Invisible Wounds, Acres Of Skin, Hurt Conveyor & Lynch Pin)
for prospective producers to listen to and hope to have a better idea of who they`ll use by next week.
Burt has almost finished the vocals and should be done by the end of this week
(06/03/00)
Two more song titles have decided upon - Hurt Conveyor and Invisible Wounds
(05/31/00)
The band is currently going through the demo process at the moment and adding finishing touches
to the written songs. Bob Marlette was asked in for a fifth opinion on the new songs, and Billy Gould helped
out with the track Digimortal. Rhys Fulber will be doing the keyboards on the new album
The band hope to enter the studio on Saturday, July 1st
Here are the latest photos from their rehearsal studio.
(05/11/00)
Another song title has been added to the 'named' list.
It`s called Strain Vs. Resistance
(05/08/00)
The first 5 songs from the new album have now been given working titles: The names so far are
Acres Of Skin, Byte Block, Digimortal, Lynchpin and Primortial.
(04/25/00)
14 songs have been written for the new album and now the band are going back to the start to
'polish' those songs. 3 of the 14 songs have been finalised and are at the 'ready for recording' stage, although
no titles have been decided on yet, these 3 songs will become the first 3 tracks off the album.
Shiny Entertainment`s 'Messiah' video game has finally been released. This PC & Playstation video game features 10 Fear Factory tracks:
Crash Test, Demanufacture, Self Bias Resistor, Zero Signal, New Breed, Flash Point, H-K (Hunter/Killer), Remanufacture, Machines Of Hate and Messiah. Messiah Website
(03/27/00)
The band are currently working on 3 more songs to add to the 9 they have already written.
They hope to be in the studio sometime in May.
(03/09/00)
9 songs have now been written.
(03/07/00)
Writing has been moving a bit slower this week due to the fact that the band is in the middle
of talks with new management and lawyers. The band`s last management (Concrete Management) was fired
because they were not meeting their requirements as management.
(02/24/00)
8 songs have been written and the lyrics for 2 of them finished.
The band plans to have about 15 songs written by the time they hit the recording studio.
(02/14/00)
7 songs written so far.
(01/25/00)
The band have written 4 songs since they enter the studio 2 weeks ago. 3 more songs are in
progress. Raymond Herrera tells us that the musical direction of the new album is sounding 'more like
Demanufacture'.
(01/21/00)
The band are currently writing for the new album.
The music for 2 songs has been completed, and 3 more are in progress.
A one-word title has been decided on already, which according to Raymond "sums the whole Fear Factory concept up". Rumoured titles "Lynchpin" and "Of Man And Machine" will not be used for the album, but may be song titles.
No guest appearances or collaborations have been contemplated/confirmed yet.
There are currently no planned dates for entering the studio or releasing the album. When the band are ready they will progress to the next step of the process.
